To better serve customers, Edgewater Automation, a custom automation equipment company, added a 44,000 square foot facility in Buchanan, Michigan and has located a team there to provide complete fabrication and manufacturing capabilities. “We are excited about the opportunity to locate in Buchanan and expand our manufacturing capabilities. This was a big step for our company, and feel this will be a perfect fit for our new operations,” said Rick Blake, founder and president of Edgewater Automation.

This new addition was made possible with the help from Vickers Engineering of New Troy, Michigan. Vickers Engineering was instrumental in providing Edgewater Automation with equipment, know-how, and space for this new expansion. Edgewater is purchasing the assets of Vickers’ Fabrication Division, which relocated to Buchanan in the spring of 2012. The transition allows Vickers to focus their ongoing growth toward precision machining, which they are a world class supplier to a variety of industries. “It’s a win for all parties: Vickers, Edgewater, and the city Buchanan”, said Matt Tyler, president of Vickers Engineering. “We are sorry to see Vickers leave Buchanan” said City Manager Bill Marx.  “At the same time we welcome Edgewater Automation to the community and look forward to enjoying the same positive cooperative relationship with them that we had with Vickers.”

Of this new growth, Joe Sobieralski, Executive Director at Southwestern Michigan Economic Growth Alliance & Berrien County Manufacturers Council said, “We are very excited to welcome Edgewater Automation as they expand their operations to Southern Berrien County. I’m confident that they will find the City of Buchanan to be very accommodating and a great place to expand their operations. I look forward to working with and watching both Edgewater Automation and Vickers Engineering continue their growth; these are two very awesome companies to have right here in our own backyards.”
